PERMITTED USES
Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to use AI resources in order to deepen understanding of subject matter, assist in the process of research, and enhance assignments in the classroom.
Students, staff, and faculty are allowed to use AI to assist in repetitive and mundane tasks. These may include, but are not limited to – generating citations, grammar and spelling errors, creating visual representations of data and information, formatting simple emails,
Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to learn as much about AI and its resources as possible. Generative AI is constantly evolving and changing with the advancements of technology. Keeping up to date with the changes in technology will aid in the understanding of helpful resources and what they should be used for.
PROHIBITED USES
Students are prohibited from using generative AI resources in order to complete assignments in their entirety without original input from the student
Faculty and staff are prohibited from using generative AI resources to complete curriculum plans and establishing the course of a class.
Faculty and staff are prohibited from using generative AI resources to fully grade assignments, projects, presentations, and exams without original input from the professor in charge of the course.
It is forbidden to use any kind of AI resource in order to breach any university policy or law
It is forbidden to use any kind of AI resource in order to breach any kind of law in the community
DISCLOSURE & TRANSPARENCY
Students must disclose within their work if they used an AI resource in order to enhance their knowledge or assignment.
This disclosure should mention what kind of AI resource was used and what the student used it for
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Students are forbidden from using only AI resources to complete assignments, projects, or exams in their entirety.
The utilization of AI resources during examinations is prohibited
All courses will have different rules about when it’s appropriate to use AI resources and when it’s not appropriate.
Students, staff, and faculty are responsible for upholding the rules of the university as well as the specific rules of the classroom
PRIVACY, ETHICS & RESPONSIBILITY
Students, staff, and faculty should prioritize using AI resources that respect the privacy of the user in every way possible.
Resources should have data and privacy policies as well as ethical goals
Students, staff, and faculty are responsible for ensuring that the data and information they feed into AI resources does not violate the privacy of any other individual
Students, staff, and faculty are responsible for staying informed and up to date on new AI resources and advancements and how that will alter their use of AI or how AI uses information to ensure everyone’s safety
CONSEQUENCE FOR INAPPROPRIATE USAGE
Inappropriate use of generative AI can lead to a variety of consequences. Depending on the violation of the rules, a consequence could be taken care of in the classroom setting or even with a meeting with the dean and university officials.
